Room all ready to go!

Finally finished up the room and the desk, got all my equipment moved over, and the new recording PC finally built. She's a powerful little machine and VERY quiet. I put a lot of thought and effort into the build of this machine, using extremely quiet components, fan controllers and passive cooling on both the videocard and processor, and only 3 fans (1 intake, 2 exhaust). I also kept the wiring very very neat so as not to impede airflow at all. The system is almost completely inaudible to the naked ear (though at full fan speed mics will still pick it up unfortunately, even if your ears cant! So the fan controllers are handy when I need to use the mics). I've also now got a nice dual monitor setup. I can truthfully say, having never used a dual-monitor setup before, that it is AWESOME. It is so nice to have my tracking window on one screen, and the mixing window (or soundforge) open on the other, and just at a quick glance, I can see all my levels and active plugins. It's such a great and efficient way to work! Getting used to knowing the limits of movement for each screen for the mouse has taken some getting used to, though!

Here's a nice little picture showing all the equipment in the finished desk/room!

Finished Studio

Perceptive eyes may also notice a new, epic 9 minute long track in the works :) Soon, I hope, it will be available!

Finished!

The new desk is finally done! I chose to stain it in a nice darker cherry wood color to continue with the warm wood/reds i've got going on in my studio room. I also added the keyboard tray, and then did a few coats of a semi-gloss lacquer which you can see in the pics below. Gives the desk a nice sheen without being overbearing. I'm very pleased with the results. The only thing i've not done is figured out what i'm going to do on either side of the rack units underneath.

I wanted to put a computer housing bay/door on the right side to isolate computer noise but i'm getting kind of lazy now, and the PC im building won't be that loud to begin with hopefully since it will have its own acoustically deadened case so it may not even be necessary. For the other side I was thinking shelves or drawers? Or I might just leave it open as future rack spaces since the ID is also 19"! Anyways, see the pics below of the desk with some of my rack equipment mounted in, including my nice new ART power distributor and ART Headamp6 headphone distributor! I love the ART stuff, such great equipment for the price, and their customer service is superb.
